El Rey de las Arepas

El Rey de las Arepas is the one and only Venezuelan restaurant in Detroit, Michigan. It is family owned and operated by Rey, his parents, sister, and girlfriend. They use homemade family recipes to handcraft each dish. Rey’s mother acts as Head Chef and sends out each and every dish that comes out of the kitchen. El Rey de las Arepas first opened in a different in November 2014, but moved to its current location in mid 2015.

Everything at El Rey de las Arepas is created using fresh and high quality ingredients. They specialize in Arepas, which are a Venezuelan type of cornbread sandwich. The Reina Pepiada is a popular choice that is an arepa made with chicken, avocado, and mayonnaise. The Shredded Beef is another favorite. The rest of the menu includes choices like appetizers, stews, burgers, and fish, meat, and poultry dishes.
