Even as a kid, Chef Juliette Johnson has been cooking, helping her dad and brother at their business. Art’s BBQ on Sunrise Boulevard, from 1968 to 1977. Johnson graduated from Culinary and for the last 10 years has been making brisket, ribs and chicken starting at the Oakland Park Farmers Market across from the Funky Buddha Brewery. “I Remember the first day, with all the shiny food trucks, but everyone as lined up in front of my little grill” she says. Johnson plans to bring her Southern Caribbean Cuisine to a brick-and-mortar restaurant in Sunrise. Today you can find her BBQ at the Community Farmers Market in Plantation on Saturday and the Tamarac on Sundays.
