In 1938 Harry Winther of Seattle Arden Farms Co. hired Bob Lindsay to apprentice the creation of decorative party desserts, such as ice cream cakes and sculptured ice cream. Mr. Lindsay continued in this art of festivity for many productive years enjoying every moment.
Forty years later, as the colorful art of sculptured ice cream came to an end, Mr. Lindsay found a new outlet for his talents in the form of Unique Services Inc, a company that supplied the Seattle area with many custom dessert products. He soon thereafter founded Lindsay’s Ice Cream to effectively market the company’s ice cream flavors along with other vibrant and alluring creations to numerous distributors, restaurants and airlines.
Mr. Lindsay, a spirited entrepreneur, then fashioned delectable flavors of sherbets and sorbets to enhance his ever-evolving assortment of frozen desserts. His immense enjoyment of creating sorbets prompted the acquisition of nationally recognized Seattle Sorbets.
Bob Lindsay successfully owned and managed Seattle Sorbets until about 20 years ago when he sold Unique Services Inc. to his longtime friend of more than 20 years, Samuel Bell. Before he acquired the company, Sam was a consultant to Bob and was familiar with the company operations. Sam, with the help of his son Claiborne have taken the company to new heights with additional flavors and expanding their market share in both the Seattle area and the nation. The company name was changed to USI Holding Company LLC with the purchase, but its character remains the same. The Seattle Sorbets family takes pride in making enjoyable quality products that are both dairy and cholesterol free with no preservatives or additives.
